Lauren Alaina – Road Less Travelled review 17th February, 2017
Lauren Alaina – Road Less Travelled
Lauren Alaina is a 23 year old Georgia native who, since coming runner up on season 10 of American Idol, has seen her fair share of life. A debut album, ‘Wildflower’ was released in 2011 in the aftermath of Idol and work was begun in 2013 on her follow up release and an oft forgot about single, ‘Barefoot & Buckwild’ was even produced but then Lauren disappeared from view. She didn’t really re-surface until last year when she released a new EP and played shows in both the USA and over here in the UK at the C2C Festival.
Sarah Darling – Dream Country Review 15th February, 2017
Sarah Darling : Dream Country
Sarah Darling has experienced quite a lot in her 34 years. She was a top three finalist on reality music TV show ‘The Entertainer’ in 2003 which lead her to chase the Nashville dream. Two albums appeared in 2009 and 2011 for major label , Black River Records. Sarah was marketed as the ‘next girl next door Nashville sensation’ in curls and primary colours singing cheeky songs like ‘Something to do with Your Hands’. Read more...
High Valley UK Gig Review 15th February, 2017
High Valley – Birmingham Institute – Thursday 9th Feb
It was proper Canadian cold on Thursday 9th February so how appropriate that Canadian brothers, Brad and Curtis Rempel, aka High Valley, rolled into Birmingham for an evening of arena Hoedown music at the Institute. Speaking to the boys before the show, they both expressed surprise at how cold it was here in England, something they hasn’t been expecting apparently whereas I was surprised they weren’t in shorts and T shirts! Aaron Watson – Gig Review London 29th January, 2017
Aaron Watson – The Garage, London, 27th Jan 2017
The Garage was a new venue for me. It’s a nice size, split level for good viewing with good acoustics. I will say however; it was like being inside a fridge! I quickly regretted checking my coat into the cloakroom!
Support for the evening was Honey Ryder. A solid set from Honey Ryder, great vocals and songs keeping the crowd entertained and warmed up for Aaron. Read more...
Kane Brown Album Review 12th January, 2017
Kane Brown – Self Titled
Welcome to a review for the biggest selling debut album of last year, and it was only released in December! Yep, you read that right – in a year of strong debut releases from the likes of Chris Jansen, Maren Morris, High Valley and Drake White, (to name but a few), this self titled debut release outsold them all! Kenny Chesney – Cosmic Halleluja Review 29th December, 2016
Kenny Chesney – Cosmic Halleluja
There’s no doubt whenever Kenny Chesney releases a new album, it’s bound to be
successful. With 14 albums of which that have smashed gold or better, eight times
entertainer of the year Chesney releases the follow up to 2014’s The Big Revival with Cosmic
Hallelujah. The No Shoes nation leader would have us kick off our shoes and grab a cold one
while we listen, so let’s kick back and see how good it is. Read more...
WHISKEY MYERS UK GIG REVIEW 12th December, 2016
Whiskey Myers London
The guys took to the stage with ‘Early Morning Shakes’ which immediately showed off their musical talent. On to ‘Bar Guitar and Honky Tonk Crowd’ and everyone was singing along. Cody then took a moment to say how crazy it was that they had a sold out tour and thanked everyone for supporting them, explaining that it was being streamed all over the internet by Live Nation and joked that he wasn’t allowed to swear too much. A Thousand Horses London Gig Review 12th December, 2016
A Thousand Horses
As you will no doubt know, ‘A Thousand Horses’ have just been over to our shores for the second time this year, for a short UK tour.
I was really pleased to have the chance to see them, as I’d missed them at C2C in March. Read more...
Tucker Beathard London Gig Review 8th December, 2016
Tucker Beathard – The Borderline London
On a cold night in London, Tucker Beathard took to the stage at the Borderline in London. As he kicked off the night with ‘Better Than Me’ straight away he had issues with sound cutting out. Tucker handled it brilliantly though and took the moment to joke with the crowd and it actually really set the tone for the evening – relaxed & light hearted. Read more...
High Valley – Dear Life Review 2nd December, 2016
High Valley – Dear Life
In a year of strong debuts from acts such as Brothers Osborne, Cam, Chris Jansen and Maren Morris, I find myself in the unusual position of reviewing another one, right at the back end of the year, that might very well be better than all of those previously mentioned! High Valley are Canadian brothers Brad and Curtis Rempel – they have been releasing music in Canada for over a decade, indeed their album ‘Broken Borders’ won the GMA Canadian album of the year back in 2007!! Wade Bowen & Willie Braun Gig Review 21st November, 2016
Wade Bowen & Willie Braun Review Brighton Bleach
This was a really unique show featuring Wade Bowen & Willie Braun (front man of Reckless Kelly). They both took to the stage around 8pm with no support or glitzy lights; just two guys and two guitars! Read more...
