Country to Country 2014 at the O2
Country to Country C2C returns to The O2 London and Dublin in March…
After the huge success that was C2C last year they are back and doing it again with more big hitters taking to the stage.
Saturday’s lineup includes Martina McBride and Dierks Bentley, The Dixie Chicks and the Zac Brown Band.
Sunday’s lineup so far showcases Chris Young, Rascal Flatts and Brad Paisley.
On any given night these acts would fill venues but to have them all under one roof, WOW! Let’s have a look at each of them a little closer…
Martina singed with RCA Records back in 1996. She has 11 Studio albums under her belt, has sold over 14 million albums and has won over 15 major music awards including CMA Female vocalist of the year. She has also been nominated for 14 Grammy awards. She is known for her powerful voice and we think a welcome special guest to the C2C lineup. Martina has performed in the UK before but this is the first time in such a large arena.
He signed with Capitol Records in 2003 and has recorded 6 studio albums including a bluegrass album. Bentley has always taken his own direction within the genre experimenting with different styles to give his fans variety. Dierks came over to play the Borderline many years ago and we have been waiting with baited breath for his return.
Natalie Maines, Emily Robison & Martie Meguire make up this girl group which first formed in 1989. It wasn’t until 1998 when the girls hit the big time with the release of ‘Wide Open Spaces’. The girls had a worldwide hit on their hands and superstardom lay ahead! They have won 13 Grammy awards and sold over 30.5 million albums. The Nielsen Sound Scan period 1991-present shows they became the biggest selling country group in the U.S. The Dixie Chicks hit controversy while in London back in 2003. Lead singer Natalie made a statement about the President and the impending war in Iraq which led to outrage in America. In 2008 the girls took a break with uncertainty if they would ever return at all however; they have just announced their first full tour since 2007 and we are thrilled that C2C is on their schedule. As with many artists, UK support never waivers and the girls will be greeted with a very warm reception.
Zac Brown Band
Headlining Saturday evening is the fantastic Zac Brown Band. Have you seen them before? No?!? Boy, are you in for a treat! I have seen the Grammy award winning band twice and came away in awe both times! Their harmonies are so tight, their musicianship is incredible and having met the boys I can honestly say they’re some of the nicest guys in the business. They first played the UK back in 2010 supporting the Kings of Leon which led to their own gig in London. 2013 saw them play Glastonbury before their own sold out shows. Their music is country but appeals to a much broader audience and playing the festivals brings a whole new group of fans into our fantastic genre. Get ready to be amazed!
Grammy nominated singer songwriter Chris came over to test the water here in the UK in the early part of 2013 where he wowed the crowd at the CMA Songwriter’s Series with his song writing and flawless vocals! So far he’s had five number 1′s and a coveted triple play songwriter’s award! At just 28 Chris is a force to be reckoned with.
Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus & Joe Don Rooney make up this superstar trio. They have released 26 singles and all have charted above No.20 including 12 No.1 hits. Many outside the country genre will know then best for the lead song from Disney Pixar’s Cars – ‘Life is a highway’. The boys came over the UK in the summer of 2013 and had to add extra dates due to high demand! They rocked the stage and I am in no doubt that they will get the whole of the O2 on their feet.
Headlining Sunday and closing what will be a fantastic weekend is superstar Brad Paisley. Brad is one of the biggest hitters in country music! His debut album was released in 1999 and since then he has dominated the charts and award ceremonies. He has won nearly every award going including the coveted CMA Entertainer of the year. Brad is known for his wicked sense of humor and anyone sharing a stage with him needs to watch out for his legendary pranks!
Along with this amazing line up there’ll also be plenty of food stalls, trade stands and the opportunity for some retail therapy too. Even if you don’t have a ticket for the event you can come along and soak up the atmosphere! 2country cannot wait for March to come around and we look forward to seeing you all there!
